Haiku by Chiyoni(1703-1775): Known as Kaga no Chiyo, is Japan's celebrated female haiku poet. A student of two of Basho's disciples, she worked in an age when haiku was largely a male domain. A poet, painter, and Buddhist nun.

Haiku by Tomizawa, Kakio (1902-1962): One of the key haijins of Shinko Haiku (young and new haiku)movement. The haijins of Shinko Haiku refused the rule of kigo and attempted to modernize haiku, modeling the Western literature. Several of them had sympathy with the socialism or the dadaism.

The late Hisako Shimizu is survived by Mr.Kunio Shimizu, 12 children(including myself), 60 grandchildren, and 8 great-grand children(including four of mine).
