Haiku by
Casimiro de Brito (Portugal). Artwork by myself.
This one-line drawing is one technique I sometimes use. It looks easy but considerable time and energy were put into it. I redo with pencil the line drawing as many times as necessary until I feel I get it right. Then I use sumi brush to trace the pencil line. I like the uneven, thick and thin, line the brush produces.
Casimiro san is one of the serious poets, like Tomas Gösta Tranströmer, who embraces haiku as an important means of expression. These are the people who would help place haiku in the main stream poetry.
