Haiku by Hakusen Watanabe (Japan). Artwork by myself. There are a lot of stories about how the war prisoners were mistreated. They are often exposed to human cruelty, treated as like slaves. Reading a haiku like this, we see there are moments of humanity appear even in time war. It is like a little, warm light of cigarett in the darkness.
For this haiga, I drew with crayon three separate images: the human figure, the bars, and the cigarett. I scanned them, put them together and adjusted the colors.
