Haiku by Koji Yasui (Japan). Artwork by myself.
I did this haiga years ago, but this time I redid it. This time I wanted to experiment the digital effect, which often makes the simple flat color area more interesting to look at. I carefully avoided applying the effect to the entire haiga because having the same texture all over gets boring. On the other hand, variety of textures make the artwork interesting.
Yasui is hardly known outside of Japan for few of his haiku have been translated. His haiku is difficult, stoic, philosophical, surrealistic, but this haiku here is an easy one. If you care to read his original Japanese haiku, here is a good link.
