Haiga 887 - Chiri, Basho's companion's haiku

Haiku by Chiri. Artwork by myself.

When Basho and Chiri came to Oi river, the days of rain had raised the level of river water, and they could not cross. Those in Edo were counting fingers and assuming Basho and Chiri had already crossed the river and had gone further. But poor haijins were stucked at the bank of the mighty river. Chiri wrote in his haiku the situation then.
