I think it's important for the poet to address subjects that are important to him or her -- like climate change and the environment. I like your poem because of its subtle irony that one of the planet's undoings (plastic bottle waste) is exactly what so many of us carry around. Of course, people are made up of mostly water as well. There's a feeling of futility and slight humor here.
