here's, from me, is what you might call a japanese folklore-groundbreaking haiku, it is of course inspired by the japanese moonshot and the moment of impact which is an astronommy picture for today on my 'bard on the run' blogspot - you may like to illustrate it if you think it's good or inspirational enough
Kaguya kissing the moon,,,Interesting. This verse seems incomplete as a haiku. The verse is actually two lines: princess kaguya stops to kiss the moon It needs another line for a "cutting" effect. For instance: Long absence, princess kaguya stops to kiss the moon
you are right of course, so how can we commemorate this milestone in japanese space exploration? there must be something important in the princess kaguya legend that fits otherwise the astronomers wouldn't refer to the rocket as princess kaguya...will get back after more thought, gwilym

'Long absence' is perfect, because Kaguya originates from the capital of the moon in the oldest Japanese legend the story of the bamboo cutter
Long absence,
Princess Kaguya
Stops to kiss the Moon
I've put capital M so we know which moon we're talking about. There are a lot of them up there.
This Princess must an important Japanese person. A giant cruise liner is to be named after her.
