Haiga 842 - Kuniharu Shimizu haiku

Haiku and photograph by myself.

In a hot and dry climate, the shadow area provides cool pleasant space. Japan, on the other hand, gets hot and humid in the summer. The humidity conveys the heat to the shadow area so there is no escape from the heat. Air conditioning is a must in a land like ours.

Ever since the accident at nuke electricity plants last spring, electricity has become a rare commodity here. Temperature is set a little higher at air conditioning machines everywhere. Good old electric fan, uchiwa and sensu (both paper handheld fans) are back in use this summer. A bit uncomfortable, but maybe a good thing for the body.

In this photo, the organic shape of the ice cream caught my eyes first. As for contrasting elements, I tried to include as much shadows and the patio, both of which showed good geometric shapes. In this way, both types of shapes, organic and geometric, complement each other.
