Haiga 885 - Chiri, Basho's companion's haiku

Haiku by Chiri. Artwork by myself.

The 4th haiku in "Nozarashi Kiko"
Chiri was a Basho's disciple. In his journal, Basho wrote as follows. "A man named Chiri was my companion and aide, and he put himself completely into caring for me. Our hearts are as one, and in friendship he is ever faithful."

Fukagawa is a name of an area where Basho's humble hut located. As Basho and Chiri walked on, leaving behind sweet home, which was no longer in sight, Chiri asked Mt. Fuji, whose peak soared above the cloud, to keep its eyes on the home and basho trees there.
