Haiga 340

Haiku by Alenka Zorman, Slovenia. I made this haiga of the haiku I had excluded from the previous haiga (haiga 339).

Haiga 339

Haiku by Alenka Zorman, Slovenia. Alenka wrote a series of haiku by the sea. I received the batch and was thinking how I should go about visualizing them. I could have made haiga for each haiku separately, but I tried something experimental. I made a selection of haiku from the batch and made one artwork that fits the mood of the selected haiku.

I sent the haiga to Alenka san on May 25, which Alenka san later informed me was a Day of Youth, a festive day celebrated every year in Slovenia.

Haiga 338

Haiku by Vincent Tripi (USA). Vincent's haiku somehow reminds me of H.D. Thoreau. Come to think about it, Thoreau might have written haiku, had he known about this genre of poetry.

Haiga e-book 4 "Life"

I just added my 4th haiga ebook. It's titled "Life", and contains 87 haiga. Check out my bookstore.

In four ebooks, there are 301 haiga all together. These are my best selections, and are my visual attempts to explore the possibility of the modern haiga.

Book cover design

Ban'ya Natsuishi and Sayumi Kamakura wrote a series of 52 essays for a newspaper last year. These essays were compiled into a book, and I was asked to do its cover design. The title means something like " Haiku, moving to and from everywhere". The book will be published by Chusekisha, Tokyo sometime in June.

eBook project

The photo is sent to me by my publisher in LA. My haiga eBook "Narrow Road to the Deep North" is in the making. The book is being tested on Amazon KindleDX e-reader, and on desktop PC. Kindle shows only monochrome images, but the book data is in full color so if viewed on PC/Mac, or color e-readers like ipad, you can enjoy the color version.
